Spinosaurus

Two species are currently recognised. Stromer named the genus in 1915 from Egyptian material that no longer exists, and for over a century that was the only species there was.

A second was described in 2026 from the central Sahara, which makes the shape of the genus itself an open question rather than a settled one.
